If there is one EDM artist that perfectly captures the meteoric rise EDM has taken over the past couple of years, it would be Afrojack. Born in Spijkenisse, Netherlands, Nick van der Wall a.k.a. Afrojack, quickly started to make a name of himself with his first few underground productions. He started DJing and producing dutch house in 2006 where he quickly took over his home town. It wasn’t until 2011, when he released “Take Over Control”, that he rose into international superstardom over-night.
Afrojack belongs to Spinning Record, and also runs a very successful imprint called Wall Recordings. The imprint mostly focuses on other prolific dutch house DJs such as R3hab and Sidney Samson.
As any talented producer, Afrojack has many original solo productions as the lead artist. Not being afraid to take charge as an artist he has released many leading productions. These include “”Drop Down (Do My Dance)”, “Take Over Control” ft. Eva Simmons, “Selecta” ft. Quintino, Tomorrowland’s 2011 anthem “The Way We See the World” ft. His seemingly worldwide, overnight superstardom has made him one of the most sought after pop and commercial house producers in the scene today. Afrojack has produced tracks like “Give Me Everything”, “Party Ain’t Over” ft Usher and “Have Some Fun” ft. The Wanted, for Pitbull. Afrojack has also worked in production with french house mega superstar, David Guetta on tracks like “Toyfriend”, “Lunar”, “I Just Wanna F” among many others. Other world renowned musicians Afrojack has worked with include Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes for the hip hop track “Look At Me Now”, will.i.am, Jay Sean and Mayor Lazer. Afrojack has also been the receiver of many accolades including a Grammy for best remix in 2011 and for best rap/hiphop track for “Look At Me Now” in 2012. That year also had his track “Can’t Stop Me” go top 10 in Holland and stay in the top 40 of the US.
Afrojack is a multi talented producer, with relentless touring work ethic. He has already headlined the biggest festivals in the world, including EDC NY and Las Vegas, UMF and Tomorrowland. Afrojack has become in only 3 short years into one of the top 5 most well known and sought after DJs and producers in the world.
