Sunday School #39: Xilent

This edition of Sunday School, we bring you the up and rising Polish producer, Xilent.

Hailing from Warsaw, Poland, Eryk Kowalczyk, began his interest in electronic music around the age of nine, where the Propellerhead Rebirth RB-338 synthesizer set was introduced into his life. After some experimentation with Techno, Breakbeat, he finally found his place in Drum & Bass, naming influences like Calyx, DJ Rap, Future Cut and Concord Dawn (At the same time he experimented on drums in some hardcore punk, notably the band Fast Foward. He did three years at Edinburgh, Scotland, where he studied Software Engineering while at the same time becoming a member of various international labels such as Beta Recordings, Ammunition Recordings, Mindtech Recordings. Xilent also toured Europe for a while supporting acts such as Spor, and finally on December of 2009,he played on his first time live on his home country, Poland.

AudioPorn Records added him to their catalog of artists on 2011, during which period he released material on the label’s affiliate, Mainframe Recordings. Out of those releases,  Choose Me EP, Skyward EP and Evolutions Per Minute/Tenkai stand out. In May, 2012 he released Ultrafunk EP.

Released on AudioPorn Records including the tracks Twisted, Ultra, Beyond and Do It. Beyond was named Hottest Record in the World” by BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe. In 2013, he released Bosswave on the same label.

Bosswave features Xilent’s almost unmistakable signature sounds, adding the chip-esque sounds into his morphing basses. The video made for the song also features this gamer element, featuring Xilent battling monsters in a robot suit.



Xilent has made great effort to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Bass scene. Pulling in bangers on all genre’s, be it Dubstep, Electro House to Drum & Bass, he’s displayed his talent on all fronts successfully.  And with years to come, we can’t wait to see how his sound matures.
