We are getting ready for Coors Light EDC Puerto Rico and we are kicking off EDC week with an off day Sunday School dedicated to the prince of house music, Nicky Romero.
Nick Rotteveel a.k.a Nicky Romero is a dutch dj/producer of many genres of house music including electro, progressive and tech-house. Born in 1989 in a small city of “Amerongen”. Later moving to Canada he started his love of beats at the age of 6 picking up a drum set. A few years later at the age of 12 he traded the drum set for turntables and a PC, where he started to pick up on his love for dance music and electronic music in general.
After graduating from high school, he had no interest in college so he just started producing music. His first record signing was to Once Records where they released his first tracks Privilege & QWERTY. In 2010 he also released a now legendary track for those hardcore dance enthusiasts called “My Friend” which peaked #4 in Beatport’s Over All Chart and #1 in Beatport’s Progressive Chart.
Nicky Romero’s breakthrough hit came in 2012 with the release of the booming hit “Toulhouse” which conquered Beatport’s top ten lists for quite a long time. other very notable releases of 2012 include “Like Home” with NERVO, “Se7en, “Metropolis” with David Guetta, “Iron” with Calvin Harris and many many more.
As you can see in such a short career Nicky Romero has achieved high praise and success with his unparalleled house productions. In October 2012 Nicky was awarded DJ Mag “Highest New Entry” award debuting at #17. Nicky Romero has also focused heavily on the business side of the EDM world having his own record label called Protocol Recordings and releasing music from the hottests dance acts today like Bassjackers, Nervo, Krewella just to name a few.
With only 5 years under his belt and only one of high notoriety, Nicky Romero has proven to be the most popular new voice of the EDM world. He has already taken 2013 by storm with hits like “Symphonica” and “Legacy” featuring Krewella, Nicky Romero has taken the DJ and production world by storm and has worked with the biggest names in the EDM industry like David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Fedde Le Grand, Hardwell and Zedd. In such a short time Nicky has already cemented his name in EDM infamy, and it’s only a matter of time until he IS the biggest name in electronic music.
