Adele vs. Daft Punk – Something About The Fire (Carlos Serrano Mix)

By: Forward Musiq
Touching Daft Punk’s works has always been something other artists have done (those who do dare) with the utmost care. Their fans are fiercely loyal to the original songs and treat each new remix done of them with meticulous critique, down to the smallest detail. And those who succeed in making their remix past their fans are but a few, possibly fitting in the palm of a hand. So when this mix done by Carlos Serrano turned up, I had but the task at hand as a fierce Daft Punk fan to review it. Now, straight away I will say that this mix is nothing out of the ordinary, it’s just a simple mix of two songs, Something About Us’s beats and funky bass is used as the background for Adele’s haunting voice to carve itself into one’s heart, and an added gift to include the song’s (Something About Us) original voice sample to become a sort of duet with Adele’s voice. Though this choice is curious, personally I find that the two don’t go perfectly together. This is not to say that the mix itself is bad, because it excels in what it set out to do, unite two musical Gods under one mellow tune.
